Township Mzamom’Hle

c is the Gonubie Township, near East London and has a population of approximately 25.000, whereof 60% children. In the year 2000 the South African Government built 500 small houses in the Township, but many of the residents still live in shacks. The township is growing rapidly with people moving to the Township in the hope to find work. This growth is not being controlled and many of the job-seekers are unemployed.

The Township has a School up to grade 12. The school is over crowded. A local clinic deals with Primary Health Care.

Many children grow up facing difficulties such as parents living separately, death of parents through sicknesses, alcohol and drug abuse, violence and poverty.
